Getting to know: Tim!

Hi, I’m Tim, co-founder of Golden Stay. But what exactly do I do? And who am I beyond that?

First of all, I am happily married to Febe, and we are proud parents of three strong boys. I am also co-owner of Golden Stay together with my wife Febe, my brother Peter, and his wife Lynn. Additionally, I run my own recruitment agency, Recruitim. I do all of this with great passion and joy.

Golden Stay

Within Golden Stay, I am truly a jack-of-all-trades. I have helped set up all the processes. I love building things from scratch and seeing them come to life. I often see potential in things that don’t exist yet, and my strength lies in realizing them and getting them off the ground. After that, I enjoy passing them on to others so they can optimize and further develop them.

I am real dreamer and a kickstarter.

Nowadays, I mainly focus on new concepts such as selling furniture, developing new business opportunities, bringing in investors, and launching new projects. I see potential in many projects and love starting new initiatives.

I also find company culture incredibly important and have a great passion for shaping it. I am deeply committed to creating an authentic culture—one that feels like family and encourages everyone to bring out the best in each other. Everything I do and see happening around me confirms how valuable such a culture is and the benefits it brings.

Passion for Travel

In addition to my passion for work and everything that comes with it, I also love traveling. For example, I took a six-month trip with three good friends to various countries in Africa. This journey involved venturing deep into the wilderness and starting and supporting different projects. Every year, I still return for two weeks to the places I visited to continue supporting them.

I also spent a year in Australia attending a leadership school at Hillsong. There, I not only got to explore half of Australia but also learned a great deal about myself. I am truly an adventurer—I love seeing the world. New experiences and new cultures fascinate me.

Before fully committing to Golden Stay, I first took a solo trip to Norway for a week to really think about what I wanted. That’s where I came to my conclusion: I am going all in for Golden Stay.

Shaped by Illness

One of the things that has shaped me the most is going through a long period of severe illness. During this time, I learned a lot about myself and what values are truly important to me.

A lot comes my way at Golden Stay now. For example, recently, two groups suddenly ended up in the same accommodation on a Friday night—a double booking. In these kinds of situations, you need to be extremely flexible and able to handle a lot at once. This has become one of my greatest strengths. We managed to resolve the issue by offering a fantastic alternative: a beautiful and even larger house in the Ardennes for one of the groups.

When I was ill, I had to deal with an overwhelming amount of challenges and fight for my life. The question “Will I make it to tomorrow?” crossed my mind regularly. That experience and the different perspective on life it gave me have made me unshakable. I have learned to be grateful for every day and to find immense joy in what I do. I know what I want and what I don’t want. My strength comes from God, who pulled me through that period of illness—I was miraculously healed.

One of the things I am most grateful for is my three kids: Liam, Sem, and Matt. I truly believe that family life is one of the most beautiful things there is. I am a real family man, which is reflected in the strong bond I maintain with my brothers and relatives—I always make sure we come together.

Daring to Dream

My dream for Golden Stay is to expand across all of Europe, building a brand of excellence. I love seeing houses being built in collaboration with the right partners, launching a webshop, and working on amazing projects with our renovation team—not just for Golden Stay, but also for third parties.

In short, I dare to dream, and I have the utmost confidence in the Golden Stay team that we will make these dreams a reality.
